The cranberries discography tpb3/31/2024 ![]() ![]() > "I've trusted lies and trusted men, broke down and put myself back together again" Dolores O'Riordan will certainly be missed. In any case, I'd urge any audiophile who has fond memories of the Cranberries to go back and revisit both albums. Turns out the Cranberries worked with producer Stephen Street who is best known for his work with The Smiths and Blur which explains the quality of both albums in retrospect. It's easy to follow the different lines in vocal harmonies, and instrument separation and imaging depth are really a delight. The former album seems to have a better dynamic range of the two and really highlights O'Riordan's voice. I cued up "Everybody Else is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" and "No Need to Argue" and was pleasantly surprised to find out how well both albums were recorded, produced and mastered. I've consistently found that music from the early 90s is a mixed bag of quality with some of it sounding like absolute crap on a halfway competent hifi setup, so I didn't have high hopes. The last time I listened to the Cranberries I was jamming to music on a Sanyo boombox in my parents basement and recording songs off the radio onto cassette tape 20 years ago. On learning that Dolores O'Riordan passed away earlier this week, I decided to revisit the Cranberries' discography. ![]()
